Highlights of León & the Final Stages of the Camino
Only offered by Iberian Adventures, these trips allow you to experience not only the Camino in Galicia, but also the completely different culture and environment in the neighboring Castilla y León region and the sensation of transition as the Way moves westward from one area to another. All 3 trips start in the wonderful pilgrimage city of León and then depending on your time available, offer a selection of the best walks and sights of the Camino on its way through León province into Galicia. All trips cover the final stages to Santiago de Compostela, including the “last 100 km”, the minimum distance to qualify for the Compostela certificate.
The final 1/3 of the Camino Frances
After a first night in the historic city of León, this itinerary covers approximately the final one third of the entire Camino Frances route in Spain – 280 km / 174 miles – all the way to the Apostle’s resting place at the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela. Only offered for a minimum of 4 people. Daily distances average 22.5 km / 14 miles.
The Camino Frances from the Pyrenees to La Rioja
These two trips cover the 2 main historic routes crossing the magnificent Pyrenees mountains from France into Spain. The more well-known route via Roncesvalles in Navarre and the older but much less travelled – and perhaps more spectacular – route via Somport Pass in Aragón. Both routes merge 2 stage south of Pamplona and end in Logroño.
The Complete Camino Frances from the Pyrenees to Santiago – a custom trip.
This itinerary covers the entire final 790 kilometers / 490 miles of the Camino Frances route, beginning in St. Jean Pied de Port – last town in France – hiking across the mighty Pyrenees into Spain, and all the way to the Apostle’s resting place in the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela. Only offered on a custom basis, with daily stages tailored to your available dates and walking ability, for a minimum of 4 people.
Spring & Fall Itinerary
This popular spring & autumn hiking trip in the Sierra de Gredos features 2 overnight bases, one on each side of the range, allowing you to experience the best of two completely different environments: first in a village set at 1500 meters (4920 ft) in a high northern valley, where walks range from easy tramps up U-shaped glacial valleys to the main ridge, to forest and riverside strolls; then you’ll traverse on foot to your 2nd base at 800 meters (2625 ft), in a lower, warmer & sunny southern valley, where you’ll enjoy wonderful excursions through quaint local villages, mixed forests scented with oregano, thyme and rosemary, and ancient orchards of cherry, fig, sweet chestnut and walnut.

Summer Itinerary
This popular summer-only hiking trip in the Sierra de Gredos uses a single overnight base in a high northern valley at 1500 meters (4920 ft) and is designed for exploration of the cool alpine zone with daily opportunities for easy summit ascents. You’ll enjoy grassy meadows, spectacular ridge walks and simple scrambles on beautiful granite, as well as lower-elevation riverside trails and opportunities for refreshing dips in natural river pools. A highlight is an excursion to the fantastic Gredos Cirque and glacial lake, with 1 overnight stay at the emblematic mountain hut there. Options are available to stay a 2nd night to allow better exploration of the cirque or just visit as a day trip and stay at your hotel instead of staying at the hut.
